Frequently asked questions
Will I lose control of myself? No you will always remain fully in control and will be able to come out of trance at your own will at any time you want to. As a hypnotherapist I simply guide you to focus internally and gain access to the large store of self resources you have inside your own subconscious mind.
What does trance feel like? Every one is an individual and each person will feel differently to another. Put simply it is a feeling of relaxation and deep calm. The hypnotic trance state is a very natural state similar to how you may feel when day dreaming or in deep concentration while watching a good film or reading a good book. Is it the same as stage hypnosis Can I be made to do anything against my will? No. You will be in control of what you say and what you do at all times Can anybody be hypnotised? You can only be hypnotised if you choose to be. Almost everyone has the ability to be hypnotised if they choose to be but it can also depend on other conditions at the time. It will also depend very much on what your prior conceptions are on what it is you should be feeling when hypnotised. The depth of the hypnotic trance state will vary with each individual and session.
Is hypnosis safe? Yes. Hypnosis is a totally natural state of mind.
What should I expect from a first appointment? In general, firstly you will have a consultation. This allows me as your potential therapist to decide if I am able to help you with your problem. It will also allow you to decide if you feel comfortable working with me as your personal therapist. We will spend some time on the first appointment taking information. On the date of the scheduled appointment you will be made to feel relaxed and comfortable as possible and as your hypnotherapist I will use my voice with induction techniques to guide you to focus on your internal resources. After each session we may spend some time discussing the information to fully integrate it in to the process. Is there a 100% guarantee that it will work? No, in the same way that there is no guarantee for any other form of complementary or orthodox medicine. What may not work with one client / therapist relationships may well work with another. How many sessions will I need? Again this is very much down to the individual and the problems that need to be resolved. In some cases good success can be achieved in just one or two sessions but more may be required at times. I would advise you on the consultation how many sessions I feel may be necessary and review the progress with each session. The problems a client brings to the sessions can sometimes have many layers to uncover before the root cause is identified and resolved. In general the number of sessions will depend on you. Its your choice. If I feel that I am unable to help further I would advise you as soon as possible. If you have any other specific questions please feel free to ask
